Mukachevo Castle

Transcarpathia region is famous with its numerous ancient castles, which served people as shelter from enemies and as those, which controlled the nearest lands. Mukachevo Castle "Palanok" is standing on a mountain, which has lonely settled in the middle of a large valley. Covered with legends and battle glory it is seen from any corner of Mukachevo (40 km from Uzhgorod). This huge extant castle is indeed a knights' castle, which used to be the strongest fortress in the East of Austrian Empire.
